A man by the name of Quamine Taylor was arrested on April 1st at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ home in the Hamptons, after breaking into the mansion to enjoy the luxuries of Diddy’s lifestyle. According to the New York Post, Taylor accessed Diddy’s home by sneaking through an unlocked basement door and secretly enjoyed the mansion for nearly 24 hours.

He ate Diddy’s food, drank his liquor and even wore the rap mogul’s clothes. Cops said that this is the second time Taylor has broken into the Bad Boy CEO’s house and Taylor admitted to his affinity for going to the house regularly.

I’ve actually been going to the house from time to time since 2001,I stay there a lot, but Sean gets funny sometimes about me staying there,” Taylor said.

In his first attempt at living Diddy’s lifestyle, Taylor tried to pass himself off as Combs’ cousin, after cops found him intoxicated during a dip in Combs’ pool. In the second attempt Taylor told security that Diddy was a close personal friend, after he accidentally set off an alarm in the mansion. His weekend getaway came to abrupt halt when one of Diddy’s caretaker’s found him at 4 p.m. on April Fools’ Day and called the authorities.

“I got a good night’s sleep, but it’s not anything too special,” Taylor said nonchalantly of Diddy’s Hamptons crib. “It’s just like a three bedroom.”

Taylor’s mom said he has a history of being mentally ill.

“He grew up listening to [Diddy’s] music,” Taylor’s mom told the New York Post. “He has a long history of mental illness and he has been off his meds for a while. We have been trying to get him some help.”

Taylor was arraigned on trespassing and petit-larceny and was being held with a $2,000 bail.

N5,000 note: “We are not aware of any plans to stop printing” – CBN

 There was indication yesterday that President Goodluck Jonathan might have bowed to mass pressure over the introduction of N5000 notes to the country by next year.

It was gathered that Jonathan yesterday agreed with the two leaders of the Upper and Lower Chambers, Senator David Mark and Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal respectively at a meeting in Abuja that it is possible for his administration to suspend the printing of the highest currency.

Jonathan was said to have given the assurance, stating that he had been properly briefed about how stakeholders in the country kicked against the new policy.

He added that any approval he gave for the printing of a N5000 notes, and coins for the lower denominations from N20 downward, can be suspended

The meeting, which lasted for several hours, according to sources indicated that the federal government may soon officially announce the suspension of the N5, 000 and other reprinting.

However , CBN Director of Communications, Ugochukwu Okoroafor refuted the news report by asserting that he was not aware of such plans. “Nobody has informed us, we are not aware of any reversal,”  he said.

All effort to speak with President’s spokespersons, Reuben Abati and Dr. Doyin Okupe proved abortive.

This hausa man was caught trapping vulture with snuff in Onne, Port Harcourt and wanted to use them as roasted chicken for people to buy. He said he has been doing this business for sometimes now. Please those of you that eat roasted chicken from road side in Akajo and Onne or Eleme as a whole beware, because some of these people that roast chicken do mixed them with vulture and customer will not know they will buy and eat.  As drums continue to roll for the disintegration of Nigeria by different ethnic groups, religious leaders and activists, President Goodluck Jonathan Thursday affirmed that the entity called Nigeria would not divide. He stressed that those calling for the disunity would not succeed, noting that his government is committed to moving Nigeria forward and will not submit to any antics.

Jonathan said this in Abuja yesterday at a national summit and rally organized by the national leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) with the theme: Labour for Peace, Unity and Development.

According to Jonathan: “For you to move a modern society there must be peace. Even in those days, for a king to move a kingdom forward, there must be peace. I listened to the guest lecturer, who talked about balkanising and cannibalising Nigeria and I think those who are thinking that way want to be kings in tiny Islands.

“Those saying they want their own nation, which is Igbo nation, Yoruba nation and the rest are people who want to be kings in a tiny island, and they will not get it because Nigeria will not divide. I am committed to moving Nigeria forward and will not submit to any antics.”

The president maintained that it is unpatriotic for any man to call for the division of the nation, which our late heroes labored to build.

He condemned the recent attacks on telecommunication masts in some parts of the country by the outlawed Boko Haram sect, adding that “no matter what we think has been eroded, in contemporary society, there must be peace for development. For a nation to develop, the first thing you talk about is communication power.

“Now, in the Northern parts, communication power has been threatened because of insecurity; there is no way that will not impact on the economy. For us to move with the modern society there must be peace.”

President Jonathan maintained that the challenges currently confronting the country will be handled, assuring that the country would surely come out of this turbulent sea.

“No matter what we feel might be our modest achievements, without peace, development would not be possible. We must put in place strategies to win this economic war: by paying special attention to homegrown strategies of confronting our challenges. This gathering should provide a refreshed thinking to Nigeria unity.” He added.

Babaginda who is now a Peoples’ Democratic Party [PDP] Chieftain said contemporary global trends point to the fact that the future belongs to big nations with large populations that can stand on their own in the international community.

According to him, “the historical association among the different ethnic and religious groupings in Nigeria predated the creation of the country long intertwined by crisscrossing political, cultural, and economic ties that cannot be untangled.

“China and India as good examples of big and diverse nations attending to the twin challenges of development and nation building successfully and they have not attempted to break up for ones.

“For the Nigeria to develop there must be an evolution of a truly Nigerian citizen so that our particularistic sense of identity in ethnic, regional and religious terms graduates into a patriotic sense bond between the citizens and their nations.”

Gowon, who was chairman of the NLC summit, lamented how most Nigerians see themselves in terms of their ethnic nationalities first before being Nigerians, saying this is unacceptable.

He noted that without a unity of purpose and unity of all ethnic nationalities, there would be no peace, security, and meaningful development.

Gowon expressed his reservations about the general notion of minority and majority nationalities saying that Nigerians must see themselves as one.

He said the event was a departure from what labour was erroneously known for militancy, civil disobedience, and opposition to government’s policies.

Suspension of Arik Air flights: Airline points accusing finger at Aviation Minister

Arik Airline has today accused the Aviation Minister, Mrs Oduah of demanding to be one  of the share holders of the company when she has contributed nothing to the airline in the past.

In a press statement released by the airline today (20/09/2012), it was disclosed that the continuous hostility of the Aviation Minister who had been demanding to have a stake in the operation of the Airline in the country was a major reason why the company cannot continue to operate in the country.

The statement reads in parts; “Due to persistent hostility of the Ministry of Aviation, with a minister who is demanding a 5percent equity in a business where she has no investment…ann FAAN management, which has culminated in the use of FAAN staff to stop the airline operations and lock in checked passengers in Lagos this morning Arik Air has suspended all domestic operations until further notice.”

The Airline management had disclosed that the action of FAAN and the Minister was not unrelated to personal interest, and for that reason, they have no other choice but  to suspend all domestic and local flight of the Airline indefinitely.

The statement further reads that” This issue bothers on personal interests, and non payment of bills; since FAAN has been collecting”

Joe Obi, a spokesman for the Aviation Ministry reacted to allegations leveled against his boss and the aviation industry by Arik, stating that the allegations were “completely untrue, unfounded and malicious.” He affirmed that the airline was trying to capitalize on the flight disruption in order to avoid settling the debt it currently owes the Federal government.

“The allegation is just a way to divert attention away from the issue at stake,” Obi said.

In another statement issued by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, the flight disruption was blamed on unions’ complaint towards non- payment of their salary and not as claimed by Arik.

“The management wishes to inform the public that it was not aware of any plan by the unions to embark on the said industrial action as the management considers it to be counter-productive,” the statement reads.

Dami Duro crooner, Davido, has come out to state categorically, that he is not at war with Wizkid, as it was reported some days ago. The 19-year-old pop singer, made this clear, in a video interview with AMC Nigeria, when he was asked about his relationship with Banky W’s protegé.

“Wizkid is my friend, Wizkid is my n***a, Wizkid is my brother. There’s nothing wrong at all. We are young n****as making money, that’s all,” he responded.

With these comments, Davido, who has been immersed in different controversial stories lately, hopes to put out the flames that were being fanned. The rumours especially became widespread, after he allegedly walked out, while Wizkid performed at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in New York.

Jay-Z & Beyonce Raise $4 Million For Obama Campaign

Fundraising for the Obama Re-election campaign kicked into high gear this week. Last night, Jay-Z and Beyonce held a fundraiser for the president at Jay’s New York City establishment The 40/40 Club and collected an astounding amount of money.

The $40,000 a plate event collected a cool four million dollars from the attendees. While enjoying their meal, President Obama addressed his constituents. He complimented Beyonce for being a good role model for his daughters to look up to. Obama also thanked the power pair for the continued friendship and support. Though both men have referenced their friendship in public before, Obama joked that his bond with Jay-Z was based on the women in their lives.

“We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s okay,” President Obama cracked.

Though she was mentioned quite a bit, Michelle Obama did not attend the fundraiser dinner.
