15 Confirmed Dead As Bomb Blast Hits Christian Students’ Fellowship at Bayero University, Kano

Another bomb blast has rocked the city of Kano, this time inside the premises of Bayero University. About 15 people have been reportedly killed while several others sustained various degrees of injuries in the attacks at St. Stephen Catholic Chaplain, Bayero University, Kano.
The attacks occurred early this morning as Christian worshippers gathered at Theatre Two near Sport Complex, old Campus of the institution.
A witness told AFP news agency the attackers had first thrown in explosives and fired shots, “causing a stampede among worshippers”.
“They now pursued them, shooting them with guns. They also attacked another service at the sporting complex.”
Another witness spoke of “pandemonium”, and said he had seen two men shooting indiscriminately.
Mohammed Suleiman, a History lecturer at the University, said security guards had to run for their lives when the violence broke out.
“For over 30 minutes a series of bomb explosions and gun shots took over the old campus, around the academic blocks,” he told Reuters news agency.
“I counted at least 15 dead bodies. I think they were being taken to the Amino Kano teaching hospital,” a witness told the agency, adding that he had seen many more people being treated for injuries. Security officials and doctors at local hospitals also say at least 15 people were killed.
An eyewitness said those who survived the blast ran into a ring of fire coming out of unknown gunmen that had taken position round the church building.
JTF spokesman Lt. Ikediche Iweha confirmed the incident but refused to comment on the number of casualties, rather, he referred Vanguard to the University authority.
When contacted, the University’s Public Relation Officer, Malam Zaharadeen confirmed the attack saying 7 worshippers were killed with scores injured.
While confirming the incident, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Kano chapter, Rev Ransom Bello expressed fear that dozens might have been affected.
According to Bello “the Commissioner of Police has put me on notice about the ugly incident in BUK old campus but yet to confirm the casualty figure”
A member of the rescue team who pleaded anonymity told Vanguard that, “we have recovered 14 dead bodies so far and transfer same to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.”
This attack, coming just few days after the bomb blasts at ThisDay offices in Kaduna and Abuja has further heightened the fear and tension in Northern states of the country.
Kano state has been one of the worst hit by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The sect carried out a bombing in Kano in January that killed more than 180 people, its deadliest attack to date.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of this report, many believe that this same group is responsible for the attacks.
What a sad loss. Vanguard News further reports that two University Dons, Prof Ayodele of the Chemistry Department and Prof Andrew Leo of the Library Department, were among the worshippers who were killed in the attack while most of the casualties were students.
May their souls Rest In Peace.

Despite all the bad news they have published about me I still stand tall – Nigerian musician Kelly Hansome

Kelly Hansome
Sometime ago, news broke out in the media that Nigerian musician Kelly Hansome publicly embarrassed a reporter. We decided not to carry the story until we confirm from either the reporter or the musician.
Today, in a short interview with Delia Innoma of nollwood,Kelly sheds more light on the incident.
How did you feel when you read the controversial things written about you?
I felt bad, but at the same time I feel great. Bad because it is just an effort by someone to ruin my reputation and this is sad because the press who are supposed to be the source of truth, the voice of the people, have become so cheap that they can be bought over with money, so cheap that they can be pushed around easily by the evil ones.
On the other hand I feel great because despite all the bad news they have published about me, I still stand tall, stronger and wiser. I am not bordered about the lies they tell because the truth can never be hidden but rather I thank God for making me a stronghold, a great man I was, still be and that I will forever remain.
Are you saying that none of those controversial stories are true?
No, they are not. I have been approached several times by movie people but we have not come to a concrete agreement yet, because I don’t just want to be on TV for popularity. I am mega popular. I want to do it right. My Grandma once told me when she read some rubbish about me on one paper that it is only a tree that has fruits that is stoned by people. I have no fear.
What about the reporter who wrote that you were begging for movie roles, have you ever met or spoken with him?
I just met him recently, a long time after he published the news.
Why did you see that story as the worst thing ever written about you?
So far, it is. It creates that impression that I am frustrated when I am not and will never be. I will go into movies in a big way, eventually in a big way but not begging for roles at a public function. I am not moved but I have to let my fans know that these stories are being sponsored by some evil ones amongst us.
What were your reasons for seeking out and exposing the man?
I wanted people to know that the news was false, needed to set an example with one person.
Some people believed your boys beat him up. How true was that?
Never! There is a voice recording and video of the guy saying that himself, that no one touched him. I will soon put that up too.
Did you report the case to the police?Yes, the police have his statement.

'TEEN MOM' AMBER PORTWOOD Ordered to Pay Up After Mooching Off Poor People

0429_amber_portwoodTeen Mom" star Amber Portwood has been ordered by a judge to pony up some cash to the rental home company who was suing to evict her ... after the reality star was caught free-loading off government housing.
As TMZ first reported, while Portwood was still rotting in jail, a rental company sued her for eviction after they discovered she lied about her "low-income" (she made $280K in 2010) ... which disqualified her from their subsidized government housing.
An Indiana judge ruled this month in the rental company's favor after Amber never even bothered to respond to the suit. Portwood must pay the company $673 within 30 days or risk further legal action.

Of course if she can't find the cash ... jail is free

Karen Igho engagement story

A week ago, the BBA winner tweeted 'he proposed', 'he said Karen will you marry' and then she tweeted an engagement ring, that she was engaged

Yes, Karen is Engaged

We have followed with intrigue in the past few days, rumours and gist circulating on the supposed ‘Engagement of Ms Karen Igho to a Mystery man’ following her tweets on Twitter. Ms Karen Igho has requested that this news statement be made available to the public on the matter.

Ms Igho appreciates the curiosity and goodwill displayed by her fans, critics and friends in the media regarding her affairs; she however prefers to keep details on her ‘relationship’ intentions away from the public glare until when appropriate. However, to clear the air on the alleged tweets, they were random thoughts from Ms Karen Igho after an admirer and fan proposed to her. Celebrities often experience the same thing; Ms Igho only tweeted about one of such experience randomly.

In the meantime, Ms Karen Igho is actively evolving her brand name and business while taking on active roles in Nollywood and other related entertainment initiatives across Africa.
Hence, Ms Karen Igho reaffirms, “I am not married yet; but I am fully engaged to my passion in entertainment - acting and modeling; while actively promoting good causes and charity”.
Thank you.

Name your price: Chelsea will try to buy Guardiola out of sabbatical if he quits Barca

Pep talk? Chelsea will try to lure Guardiola aboard if he quits Barca
In-demand coach has reportedly said he needs a break from the game but Blues' billionaire owner Abramovich has other ideasRoman Abramovich will open his chequebook in bid to persuade Pep Guardiola to postpone a sabbatical and manage Chelsea.
Guardiola is poised to confirm on Friday that he will be leaving Spanish giants Barcelona, and Chelsea’s owner will lead the rush of clubs hoping to persuade him to abandon plans to take a break from the game.
Abramovich made Guardiola his No 1 target when he sacked Andre Villas-Boas earlier in the season, and will be waiting to offer him a multi-million pound contract to move straight to Stamford Bridge.
Guardiola held talks with Barcelona president Sandro Rossell on Thursday, and is believed to have said he needs to take a sabbatical at the end of a week in which his team of superstars have lost their grip on their European and domestic titles.
He is set to tell his players of his plans on Friday, having promised to sleep on a final decision.
Chelsea’s players want interim boss Roberto Di Matteo to remain in charge, having lead the club to the FA Cup and European Cup finals, but Abramovich has a list of other potential candidates - with Guardiola's name at the top.
However, former Blues boss Jose Mourinho has ended any possibility of him returning to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho has had a strained relationship with the Spanish club’s fans and hierarchy since he arrived from Inter Milan in 2010 and has said he longs for a return to the Premier League.
But the Portuguese, who has already won the Champions League with Porto and Inter, said: “I want to win this title with this team.
"Winning the Copa del Rey last year was important and if we win the league this year that will be important too. Two (Champions League) semi-finals is also not bad but we want more.
“My feeling is that we still have the ability to grow as a team and the club has room to grow too. Clubs have to adapt to the evolution of time and to changing mentalities.
“A fantastic car in the 1980s is not fantastic in the 1990s or the 2000s.
"If the club thinks that I can still give something, and I know that they do, and if the players think so as well, and I think they do, I feel like the empathy is
increasing,then i will continue.

Di Matteo, who has lost just one of his 15 games in charge so far, is expected to leave the club in the summer to pursue his managerial career if he is not given the job.
He has already been interviewed for the Chelsea role by their technical director, Michael Emenalo. But chief executive Ron Gourlay has refused to endorse his credentials publicly since Tuesday’s dramatic win over Guardiola's Barca in the Champions League semi-finals.

Turtle Boy: Mole on kid's back grew so big it looked like a turtle's shell

Growth: Didier Montalvo’s huge growth on his back
A boy’s mole grew so big that by the age of six it covered his entire back like a turtle’s shell, earning him the nickname of Turtle Boy.
The rare birthmark - congenital melanocytic nevus – affects around 1 in 20,000 newborn babies but a top surgeon described Didier Montalvo’s condition as the worst he’d ever seen.
Didier’s life was severely affected by the growth, covering more than half of his body circumference, both in the painful itchiness of his skin and how it affected his confidence.
He and his family were shunned by villagers in his home in rural Colombia in South America and his mother Luz was even told it was her fault for looking at a solar eclipse while pregnant.

The family were too poor to shell out for surgery - but his life changed when his touching story was featured in a local newspaper and a flood of donations poured in.
While they could now afford the op, the life-changing surgery was still by no means straightforward – in fact it would be painful, dangerous and complicated.
A Channel 4 documentary tonight will see a plastic surgeon from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London go over to Colombia to help the team operate.
GOSH surgeon Neil Bulstrode has operated on dozens of children with CMN – but never one as extreme as Didier’s.

He said: “Didier’s CMN was the worst case I had ever seen due to the size and bulk of the lesion.
“Effectively three quarters of the circumference of his body was affected.
“Often people have CMN that are much flatter and are therefore much easier to care for and deal with.”
However, it did not stop Mr Bulstrode wanting to help remove the growth - and let Didier ditch the Turtle Boy nickname.
Mr Bulstrode added: “When I saw the pictures of Didier, one of my first feelings was that if we could remove it, we would significantly improve his quality of life.”

The full drama of the surgery will be seen in the documentary tonight but as you can see from this picture there is a happy ending.
Mr Bulstrode said: "It was great to be able to pass on our knowledge and skills, helping to get a great result for Didier.”
GOSH paediatric dermatologist Dr Veronica Kinsler runs a weekly clinic for patients with the condition.
She said: “When babies are born, their parents can get understandably very worried until they know what the marks are.
“In the weekly clinics we run at Great Ormond Street Hospital we are able to give a diagnosis, check that the moles themselves are safe and whether the skin appearance is telling us what other things might need to be checked. “
