ACADA SET TO AUDITION FOR “ATUNBOTAN - Nemesis” - A CAMPUS/YOUTH MOVIE.

Nigeria’s foremost campus/youth magazine, ACADA Magazine is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that her debut movie, “ATUBOTAN – Nemesis” is a blockbuster hit. Arrangements are in top gear to stage auditioning to cast for young actors and actresses for the upcoming flick which will debut on the big screens soon.

According to the publisher of the youthful magazine, Biodun Caston-Dada, he stated that the magazine will be making use of fresh and talented young cast as the scouting teams will be visiting University of Lagos and University of Ibadan’s Theatre Arts faculties to fish out these “new stars”. “We are passionate about this movie and like we’ve been promising, we will be making new Nollywood Stars with ATUNBOTAN. We don’t want to keep recycling the old faces and stars, hence our aim of visiting these campuses to seek out fresh faces. ATUNBOTAN will be giving chances to young campus students who are looking for an opportunity to be discovered and take their acting careers to the next level”, he explained.

Though a definite date is yet to be fixed, but we learnt that the auditioning will surely be done in September as the team planned filming in November when the rain would have subdue and the weather is bright for filming.

Bidoun Caston-Dada further speaks on the movie project. “We’ve criticized the industry for long and it is time we take the Bull by the horn and show the world that a good movie can be made in Nigeria. It’s time to up the game”. “There’s a standard, and with the film ACADA is producing, we cannot do anything below ‘Tango With Me’, ‘Phone Swap’, ‘Last Flight To Abuja’, ‘Ije’, ‘Figurine’ or ‘Arugba’. These are world-class movies produced by Nigerians who work by the standard and the rules. You can’t cut corners and expect a good result in movie making. Everything is not just about the money but details. You must do a thorough research on your story. I believe we will be making a great statement in terms of story line, cast, picture quality and aesthetics when this movie is finally shot. Lest I forget, we will be using this movie to introduce fresh and talented faces and there will be minimal usage of established actors”.

The script of the movie is ready and marketing for sponsorship and products placement in the movie is ongoing. Corporate sponsorship are also been sought to partner with the magazine in making the movie project a reality. This will afford corporate brands the unique opportunity to subtly advertise their products and services.

“ATUNBOTAN” which is been planned to be shot in Yoruba language will make use of the best filming cameras and editing equipments, and it will be sub-titled in English, Portugues and French for international audience and viewership. On the choice of the movie Language, Biodun Caston-Dada explained, “we decided to shoot the movie inYoruba to support the Nigerian government clamour for the teachings of Mother Tongues in schools and to encourage young people to speak their native language which is part of our cultural values. More so, movie shot in mother tongue makes it easier for actors to deliver their lines without restrains or cautious. Good examples are Indian and Chinese movies which most of us grew up to watch and love”.

When completed, “ATUNBOTAN” will be screened across major Nigerian campuses, various International Film Festivals across the world and also at the Cinemas.

Acada Magazine was established about five years ago to fill the void been created by non-existence of a national campus/youth lifestyle magazine that is circulated across various Nigerian campuses. Since its establishment, the magazine had gone through various transitions. From a monthly magazine with a cover price of N200, it’s now a FREE bi-weekly magazine. The movie project is the next level for the magazine. The magazine is currently in circulationNigeria, Ghana and the Republic of Benin.

Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt has revealed his celebrity crushes and says Cheryl Coleand Rihanna are “the most beautiful women in the world.”

Taletela reveals that Usain, who won gold in the 1oom dash during the 2012 Olympic Men’s 100 metre race while also breaking the record for second fastest time, says he is smitten by Girls Aloud singer Cheryl who he would like to take to dinner.

Boko Haram: We Have Reasons For All Our Activities, Thank Almighty Allah for attack on Sokoto,Zaria, Damaturu

The Boko Haram sect that had  claimed responsibility for the attacks on police formations in Sokoto had anemail statement sent to journalists in Maiduguri, Borno state capital.

In the statement  said to have been signed by the sect’s spokesman, Abul Qaqa said

‘All praises goes to Almighty Allah. This is a very important message from the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad.

‘We wish to extend our profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity to fulfill the promise we made on launching spontaneous attacks in Sokoto. ‘We have reasons for all our activities and we only k*ll those who wronged us.

We attacked Sokoto because many of our brethren have been incarcerated there. We are gladdened by the successes we recorded at the office of the AIG in Marina and the police divisional office at Unguwan Rogo as well as the police station at Arkila.

‘We wish to reiterate that our crusade is not for personal gain; it is meant to ensure the establishment of an Islamic state by liberating all Muslims from the excesses of the infidels.

 We stroly believe that Almighty Allah will reward us with his famous paradise in the hereafter as he rightly said in chapter 9 verse 111 of the Holy Qur’an. ‘We want to stress that in our struggle, we only k*ll government functionaries, security agents, Christians and anyone who pretends to be a Muslim but engage in assisting security agents to arrest us’.

‘We wish to strongly warn people to desist from collaborating with security agents. The fact is that we are the warriors of the Almighty and even the security forces are finding it difficult to contain our activities. ‘We are also aware of the activities of some women who have been recruited to spy on us. This is a final warning to all of them.

By God, whenever we catch any woman spying on us, we would slaughter her like ram. ‘We are responsible for the attacks in Bauchi and at the residence of Namadi Sambo in Zaria as well as the one in Damaturu where we bombed a patrol vehicle.

‘We equally dealt a big blow on JTF operatives in Maiduguri who, out of frustration went back and k*lled innocent and defenceless citizens. ‘It is erroneous to say that we are klling Muslims. We do not k*ll innocent Muslims. The fact is the bottom line of our struggle is to set the Muslims free from enslavement. We only kill the unbelievers.

Toni Braxton Sued For Not Paying For Reality Show Advertisements

Toni Braxton has had her fair share of financial troubles over the years. She’s landed in more financial hot water because she’s being sued by an advertising company for defaulting on payments for posters advertising her hit WEtv reality show Braxton Family Values.

A company named National Promotions & Advertising went to L.A. County Superior Court to file a lawsuit against Toni Braxton and the rest of the producers of Braxton Family Values, alleging they had a contract with the show to promote the second season of the series. The ad company claims they posted 4,300 posters around the country and they were supposed to receive $57, 322.29 for their services.

National Promotions & Advertising says they did their part and had all the posters up by November–right before the premiere of the second season. NPA also claims Braxton Family Values producers have yet to pay them their money. The ad company says they’ve tried repeatedly to get their money, but the attempts have been futile. NPA is suing for their original fee and they are looking to be paid for damages as well.

Toni Braxton’s rep responded to the suit by saying his client has nothing to do with marketing budgets or payables for the series. The rep concluded by stating that WEtv handles those things.

We hope Toni can get it together before the next season of Braxton Family Values!

Two hours before the Live eviction show kicked off, the former Stargame Housemates had  a moment together as the once one Biggie’s big family while they were waiting for that lucky Housemate Africa chose to give the US$300,000 Prize.

Being that there were two Houses(Downville and Upville),it took some time for the Housemates to mix up but  after knowing that they were all once struggling for the same Stargame prize, it took a few minutes and the Big Family was together and getting along.

Some Housemates  especially those who had the final moments with the finalists were interviewed and  aired out their views  about the Star who was about to be born.

Most of them were wishing their countrymates,Buddies and former partners the best but sorry that it was only one person to take it all.

Rest In Peace Henry Chinonso Ihelewere – 21 Year Old Nigerian Footballer Dies in Romania after Cardiac Arrest

Henry Chinonso Ihelewere, died yesterday in Romania after suffering a cardiac arrest during a pre-season friendly match.

The 21 year-old was playing for CS Delta Tulcea against FC Balotești in Romania’s second division when he collapsed after 15 minutes. He collapsed with no one around him after coming on as a second-half substitute.

He was taken to hospital but he never regained consciousness.

Henry had been playing in the Balkan country since 2007 when he joined Farul Constanta.

After his shocking death, Universitatea Cluj boss Cristian Dulca, who previously coached the Nigerian, told AS.com“What can I say? We’re all shocked. It’s a tragic day for Romanian football.”

The Colour Purple star plays Gloria Gaines in the historical drama – the first time she will appear as a character other than herself since 1998′s Beloved.

The star-studded film tells the tale of a White House butler who serves eight Presidents over the course of three decades.

10 Prisoners Qualify For The University After Passing WASSCE

Ten inmates of the Nsawam Maximum Security Prison and the Kumasi Central Prison are to commence their tertiary education after they wrote and passed the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in November/December 2011.

Four of the inmates: two males and two females from the Kumasi Central Prison passed with distinction and qualified for admission to any university in Ghana, while six others have qualified for the polytechnics and the colleges of education.

However, because they cannot attend regular school due to their status as prisoners, the Prisons Service is collaborating with the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CNDLOS), the Commonwealth of Learning and some universities in Ghana to roll out a distance learning programme that will lead to the award of diplomas and degrees in some of the country’s prisons.

The Officer in charge of Inmates Education at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra, Superintendent Afari Mintah, throwing light on the achievements of the 10 inmates, said they had been beneficiaries of the President’s Special Initiative on Distance Learning (PSIDL) which was introduced in some prisons in 2008.

He said prior to 2008, education at the prisons had been informal, with special emphasis on religion as a ‘tool’ to reform them, but the PSIDL (now CNDLOS) afforded the prisons Service an opportunity to kick-start formal education.

“We started with skills acquisition such as catering, hairdressing, carpentry, block-laying and basketry before we introduced junior high school (JHS) education,” Supt Mintah said.

The JHS education, he said, began on a pilot basis with 60 inmates from the Nsawam Medium Security, the Kumasi Central prisons and the Ankaful Main Camp, before it was extended to the Tamale Central and the Wa Central prisons. He added that the educational backgrounds of inmates were evaluated before they were put in the appropriate classrooms.

The inmates, he explained, were taught voluntarily by prison officers and other inmates who had the requisite knowledge in the various subjects.

“Some of the inmates have first degrees, while others have master’s degrees, so they help to teach the classes,” he said.

According to Supt Mintah,

“in 2010, the Prisons Service registered 35 adult prisoners and 20 juveniles from the Senior Correctional Facility for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and they all passed with aggregates between 11 and 24; some of them even gained admission to conventional senior high schools,”.

Babatunde Raji Fashola Bans NURTW Activities in Lagos Motor Parks

This is a new development in Lagos State.. 

The Fashola led government of Lagos State on Friday banned activities of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) across the various motor parks in the state.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Alausa, Ikeja.


The briefing was also attended by his counterparts in the Justice and Information and Strategy Ministries, Mr. Ade Ipaye and Aderemi Ibirogba.
The meeting was convened to highlight the operational mechanism for the newly signed Road Traffic Law in the state.

News: Rapper Nas Makes StarGame Appearance

Prolific American rapper Nas made an appearance in the Big Brother House early this evening as a ONE Campaign celebrity ambassador.

Overwhelmed does not even begin to describe the state of the Housemates as the popular Hip Hop star popped up on the TV screen. “I have no doubt that in your heart of hearts you want to see Africa become the jewel of the world and I have no doubt that you can be the change that you want to see,” he enthused.

After seeing the rapper’s special message to them the StarGamers were in disbelief as Wati exclaimed “Nastradamus” repeatedly meanwhile Talia mused: “This is some big stuff guys, this is huge.” Rapper Prezzo tried to get Big Brother to play the video again but to no avail.
