The V Monologues return in May! Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Ireti Doyle, Dakore, Kemi Lala, Bimbo Akintola & others hit the stage
This May, The Make it Happen Productions in collaboration with the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND), bring the classic V-Monologues, (The Nigerian Story) back on stage.
Telling the story of Nigerian woman and their fight against violence against in the play are Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Ireti Doyle, Dakore, Kemi Lala, Bimbo Akintola, Biola Segun-Williams, Omonor and Rita Edwards.
“The strength of a woman is in her ability to speak up and refuse to be put down. Nigerian women are tired of the violence and we are using the theater and performance tools to pass this message,” said the producer, Kemi Lala Akindoju. “The finest and best female actors in Nigeria have given themselves to this cause and will performing on the 3rd and 4th of May.”
Showing in Agip Recital Hall, The Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos on May 3 and 4, 2013 at 6pm on the 3rd and 3pm and 6pm on the 4th, The V Monologues is produced and directed by Kemi Lala Akindoju and Ifeoma Fafunwa respectively. The Command performance for the play will hold on the 4th of May by 6pm.
Regular tickets are available for N3, 500 and VIP tickets are available for N5, 000 as well as the command performance tickets.

Kim Kardashian Admits She’s A ‘Hypocrite’ Over Kanye West Baby
Star had previously criticised her sister for having baby out of wedlock.
Kim Kardashian has admitted that she’s a “hypocrite” for having a baby outside of wedlock, after previously saying she never would herself, after sister Kourtney had two children without tying the knot.
The reality TV star, who is set to give birth to her first child with boyfriend Kanye West later this Summer, revealed she knew she’d said stuff in the past which now made her a hypocrite, especially over children in a new interview with Ryan Seacrest in the US.
“I’ve said some things that I completely am, like, a hypocrite about now,” the 32 year-old admitted during an E! News presentation, she went on: “I would say things about Kourtney like, ‘You cannot have a baby without being married!’”
“I think I'm realising now that it really [will change my life]. I think that’s why I was so anxious for awhile is just because people will say, ‘Oh – your life is totally gonna change,’” she said.
“Obviously you want to evolve and your life to change it will be an amazing thing, but… “People freak me out all the time with all of their advice,” she added.
“Sometimes I’d rather just go through it and experience it on my own.”
The interview came following Kim’s divorce from NBA star Kris Humphries. After an 18-month battle the couple managed to end their marriage on Friday after the 28 year-old agreed to divorce terms, despite requesting an annulment on the grounds of fraud.

Insiders claim the difficult pregnancy Kim’s been experiencing was behind the athlete’s decision to not take the divorce to trial in the end.
A source told Wetpaint.com: “At the end of the day, Kris is truly a good guy. Yes, he was angry at Kim for the way their marriage ended and he truly DID feel defrauded by her and the show.
“But lately, especially in recent weeks, he just feels sorry for her. She’s pregnant and obviously under a lot of stress. He didn’t want to be part of it any more.”
Regarding reports that Kris wanted Kim’s money, the friend shot that claim right out of the water, saying: “This was never about the money for Kris. He has plenty. It was about clearing his name. But I think he finally realised enough damage has been done on both sides and it was time to end the situation once and for all.”

Read interview Here.....Sometmes during the week, I tuned my radio to a popular station in Lagos and then this music hit me. It was not the conventional everyday kind of music that we have around these days. It was very different and had an instant connection with me. I felt the passion and difference in the song. It was a beautiful tune. I impatiently waited for the presenter to introduce the artiste as I needed to know the new generation artiste that decided to do Afro this good.
The OAP introduced him as Lesu Lemon. I was fascinated with his music and Google helped me know more about him. He has 2 songs currently being aired on many radio stations across the country and also doing well in the online media.
African hair and Silifaa are 2 very good songs which promote our African culture and pride without failing to entertain. These songs made an entire playlist on my phone which was on repeat for days.
This young man Lesu Lemon is indeed a great artiste with a difference. I am sure he picked up a couple attributes from Fela Anikulapo Kuti. In my opinion, I think we need to see and hear more of this young man Lesu Lemon.
Here are excerpts of our conversation
Lesu lemon, what’s the concept behind the name?
It all started in the hood, I mean with friends in my area years back, we usually have competition like street jamz and football ,anytime we lose to them I used to say Forget Ile A Su Ile A Mon (LeSu LeMon) that was where the whole concept came from.
Why and when did you decide to do the Afro beat genre of music that you do?
Yeah I decided to choose Afro beat because I love Late Baba Fela and his Music a lot, it sounds matured, real and natural to me, so one day I made up my mind to be like him when I grow up. That why I chose Afro beat.
What is your connection with the maestro FELA?
I call him My Music Father.
Lesu lemon, can I meet you?
My name is Fagoroye Oluropo Opeyemi a native of Ibadan Oyo State Nigeria, born in mid 80’s in Ibadan, last born of three, two sisters, A Christian. An undergraduate studying micro biology at University of Abuja.
A brief into your past and how growing up was for you?
Let just give thanks to God because the past was kind of rough but with God we survived. Like every ghetto man will say, living in the ghetto is not that easy, but all thanks to God we coped and survived till today.
Do you mean to tell me that you are a strictly Afro beat artiste?
Yes O, ararara orororo, like I said, I wanted to do Afro beat like baba Fela, but one thing is that you can't do it as baba Fela did, but now I want to modify or let me say create New School Afro beat by blending Afro beat to Afro-hip hop, Afro-Street And Many more, but still Afro beat with message.
Do all your songs always carry messages; I mean you don’t do songs just for dance halls and parties?
Like My Music brother Seun Kuti would say Afro beat without message is not Afro beat, so most of my music have messages ,like that of African Hair is a message for everybody. Even my second track Silifaa with Suspect still has a message like an African girl driving me crazy, so it all messages
What should we expect from you in the nearest future?
Expect more big tunes from me I mean real Afro beat tunes because am ready to show the whole world that I have the energy, passion and have the spirit in me and also Afro beat lives on.
What was the reaction of your family and people around you when you started doing music, especially the Afro beat genre that you do?
Let me be real with you, some friends and people around did not believe in my dream. I remember the first day I told my people back home that I want to do music, my parents asked me if I was OK, but later on after I released my first track *African Hair* my mum told me well done and prayed for to carry on with my dreams also most of my friends have joined the movement now.
At a point, do you fused other genres of music into yours tell us more?
Yes o, As you know Naija people love to dance because we are happy people, that’s why i featured Suspect on the Silifaa track, it is just Afro beat with a different rhythm and people enjoyed it because i received a lot of positive comments.
When you dropped African hair, what do you think the reception of your fans was?
African Hair is message for everyone, like I told you the track is super dope and rich in lyrics and tune, some girls disliked me because of it, but later on agree with me that am saying the truth ,they all accepted it.

This collection is a direct response to the rapid globalization around us. There is a rich heritage of culture and tradition in Nigeria that is inextricably linked to fashion. Our country today is transitioning into an unexpected hub of commercial and corporate activity and as a result Nigeria is now capable of refining its natural resources and transforming them into world-class products by virtue of a growing skilled and creative workforce. This collection will physically project our socio-economic growth as well as uphold Africa’s rich and opulent culture as a whole.
In conception, we were inspired by the minimalist culture that is currently trending. Minimalism is described as any design or style in which the simplest and fewest elements are used to create the maximum effect. Da Vinci famously said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. Selfridge's, one of the biggest department stores in the fashion capital of London has embraced this movement by implementing a de-branding project that they have aptly termed “No Noise”. Under this initiative, the Selfridge's logo will be removed from its iconic yellow bags but will still retain the prestige and heritage associated with this very popular department store. They all celebrate the beauty of a minimalist aesthetic and focus on a product’s quality and function rather than its packaging or advertised image. The quote “less is always more” thus means more right now than it ever has.
Designing from the zesty city of Lagos, we are surrounded by constant activity and change. Lagos has recently been adorned with new glass high-rise buildings and sophisticated structures such as our first ever suspension bridge that was erected late last year. We have in this light, drawn inspiration from these simple structures which feature clean lines, basic shapes and natural textures and colours but are nevertheless striking and picturesque. By eliminating all non-essential forms, features and concepts, this collection will show that fewer elements can be used to create a maximum effect.

LATEST UPDATE: DATES AND VENUES SET FOR ECOWAS 38TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
As the month of May approaches, plans for ECOWAS 38th Anniversary is in top gear as the dates and venues have been fixed for the event. Recall in our previous post on ECOWAS Anniversary, we made mention of a fashion show coming up.
Dates for the ECOWAS 38th Anniversary are 25-26 May, with Seminars taking place at the spacious ECOWAS Auditorium, while the Gala and Fashion Night is billed to take place on 26th May at Musa Yardua Centre, Abuja.
Tickets are out and selling at N10,000 and N20,000 for Regular and VIP guests respectively.

So far, we’ve been on the set of “New Horizons”, a short film/TV project and it’s ensuing reality TV series involving Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, Funke Akindele and Uche Jombo alongside music star Banky W.
But that’s not all Banky W is doing on EbonyLife TV, he’s also going to be a co-host of a brand new TV show with music star Tiwa Savage, tentatively titled “The Banky & Tiwa Show”. Confirmed guests on the show so far include media personality Fade Ogunro, veteran comedian Gandoki and reality star/OAP Karen Igho. Photos after the jump.
