Italian man arrested for killing a Nigerian prostitute

The murder of a young Nigerian prostitute in Italy, allegedly by her former lover, attracted a huge amount of attention in European media due to the unusual circumstances behind her death.
Daniele Ughetto Piampaschet, a 34-year-old Italian man, has been arrested in the northern town of Turin in connection with the killing of Anthonia Egbuna, a 19-year-old prostitute, whose body was found floating in the River Po in February.
According to Italian media reports, when police later searched Egbuna’s apartment, they found a short story written by Piampaschet called “La rosa e il leone” (“The Rose and The Lion”) with a plot that seemed to match the details of her murder.
It was later revealed that Piampaschet had fallen in love with Egbuna, had a relationship with her and demanded that she quit working the streets. After she refused, he allegedly stabbed her to death in a jealous rage.
Piampaschet’s lawyer, Stefano Tizzani, told Reuters that his client is innocent and that “he wrote the story and gave it to her as a gift — to make himself look good.”
While the Piampaschet-Egbuna saga may sound like a thriller, the bitter fact is that Egbuna is only one of thousands of Nigerian girls and women who have been trafficked to Europe to toil as sex workers. Lured by false promises of high-paying jobs in such glamorous European capitals as Rome, Paris and Brussels, the girls soon find themselves trapped in a web of organized crime, violence and prostitution.
These women are exploited and abused by criminal gangs in both their native Nigeria and Europe.
According to Nigeria’s National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons, or Naptip, 60 percent of prostitutes in Italy and Belgium, particularly in the cities of Turin and Antwerp, are of Nigerian descent.
“The magnitude of this phenomenon and its consequences are considerable and call for concerted action by government and civil society,” said Naptip Executive Secretary Beatrice Jedy-Agba.

Cynthia Osokogu: Police recover 50 nude pictures

Cynthia Osokogu
Cynthia Osokogu
The is what The Punch Newspapers is reporting.
Police detectives at the Area E Command, Lagos have said Cynthia Osokogu’s killers took pictures while sexually assaulting her.
The Area Commander, Damian Okoro, said, “The pictures are contained in a recovered black Compaq 610 laptop belonging to Nwabufor Okwuomo, one of the suspects who lured the deceased to Lagos.”
The laptop is also said to contain over 50 nude photographs of female victims who have fallen prey to the suspect.
Some of the photographs showed girls tied with rope and their mouths covered with cello tape with objects inserted in their private part.
Osokogu’s naked photographs also showed bites and wounds inflicted all over her.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation on Wednesday said it had concluded arrangements to sue the management of Cosmilla Hotel in Festac Town, Lagos, where Osokogu was murdered by ‘BlackBerry friends’ over illegal operation.
The deceased was allegedly drugged, raped and dispossessed of her belongings and later killed.
The corporation also said it had issued a query to the management of the hotel to explain why had refused to register with it in accordance with laid-down rules and regulations.
A statement issued by NTDC’s Director of Communications, Mr. Akin Onipede in Abuja quoted the Director-General of the corporation, Chief Segun Runsewe as saying that would “file former charges against the management of Cosmilla Hotel for  illegal operation since it was not registered with the corporation.”
He said, “The development which was confirmed by the Director General of the Corporation, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe revealed that a former query had been issued to the hotel to which it had replied.”
“According to Otunba Runsewe, the management of the Hotel has already admitted that they had not registered with the Corporation which showed that the hotel is operating illegally.”
Runsewe insisted that the law would be followed to the letter but added that the NTDC would not interfere in the ongoing investigation by the security agencies.
He said, “We will allow them (security agencies) to do their job after which we will go to court.”

You Won’t Believe What Bullies Did To This Girl

A Florida school district is looking into an incident in which 13-year-old Melanie Conn was bound in plastic wrap by two of her peers while waiting for the school bus.Mother Holley Angerson-Conn tells WKMG that the two boys surrounded the middle school girl at the Ormond Beach bus stop, wrapping her 10-15 times to cover her from the waist to over the chin, nearly enveloping her nose and mouth.
“This is not a joke,” Conn said. “This could have become very serious if they would have had a little bit more and nobody was able to get it off of her.”
Conn says the bus attendant was aware of an alleged threat from the boys a few days earlier, but did nothing stop it. Volusia County Schools spokesperson Nancy Wait told the station that the district “takes every reported incident of bullying seriously, fully investigates them and, if substantiated, takes disciplinary action.”
The boys have been suspended, and one of the mothers says she doesn’t understand why her son did what he did, himself being victim to years of bullying.
Allegations of insufficient busing oversight have surfaced nationwide. Indiana mother Lora Hoagland is upset that a school bus driver failed last month to intervene immediately when a student beat her son to the point that he required stitches.
But sometimes even the adults can’t fix everything — when they become the victim. A video depicting Greece, N.Y. school bus monitor Karen Klein being maliciously verbally abused by the students she was watching over went viral in June, sparking national outrage and leading to a campaign on website Indiegogo.com to buy the district staff member a dream vacation.
The campaign brought in about $700,000 in donations, some of which Klein is planning to put toward the Karen Klein Anti-Bullying Foundation.
“We’re hoping to get other people to put money in it, and this is going to be for education for people that have been bullied, for people that just — for people that need it for this situation,” she told WROC last month.

New baby issue: Please they should leave us alone to enjoy our marriage – Chinedu Ikedieze

Chinedu Ikedieze
Chinedu Ikediezen Not long ago a photograph was published in the media of Nollywood superstarChinedu Ikedieze carrying a beautiful baby. Many bloggers took over the story and claimed it was the actor’s child.
Anyways, the actor popularly known as Aki has come out to deny the story.
Here him:
“Pregnancy? Na wah o! They should leave us alone, won’t we settle down first before making babies. Please they should leave us alone to enjoy our marriage.
“Everybody knows my wife graduated from a fashion school a couple of weeks ago. Did she look pregnant or was she like a nursing mother?
“Yes, the photo is mine but it was taken in 2008 with a fan’s baby. I don’t know why it is now being recycled.
“I honestly don’t know the intention and plan of those who are sharing the photo.”
Now we’ve heard him. Let people leave Aki to enjoy his marriage.

Olusegun Ajose fights for WBC super lightweight crown

Follow@ebonychic4life

altNIGERIAN boxer Olusegun Ajose will face Argentina's Lucas Matthysse on Saturday September 8 in a bid for the World Boxing Council (WBC) super lightweight crown.

In a match that promises to be exciting, Ajose, the 32-year-old undefeated Nigerian, will face WBC number two contender, Matthysse, for the vacant WBC interim super lightweight championship. Ajose, the world number one contender with 30 undefeated wins, 14 of which have been knockouts, has fought the majority of his professional bouts in the United Kingdom.

Ajose made his US debut in September 2011, with a 12-round unanimous decision over Ali Chebah in a WBC title eliminator. This latest fight will be there too and Ajose, an active soldier in the Nigerian Army with 11 years of professional boxing experience, says he is confident of victory.
“I’m coming to America to win a world title. After the fight, I’m going back to join the army and live and train in the barracks. That’s the way it is. I’m a soldier. You don’t become a soldier if you’re not tough,” he added. Matthysse, one of the most feared knockout artists in boxing today, has fought in 31 matches, only in two of which he was defeated. Even Ajose conceded to the fact that his opponent's two defeats were due to poor decision making by the judges.

Ajose added: “I know he’s one of the toughest in the division. He’s quite tough. He lost twice, but I think he was robbed both times. There are more fights of me on YouTube than there are of him, so he probably knows more about me, but when we fight we’ll learn a lot about each other.

"Other than me, he’s probably the toughest in the division. I’m the only one better than him. Now that I have this opportunity I’m not going to let it go. I better win this fight. I’m going to give everything I have to win this fight.

Ajose said he is not going to be relying on a knock out to beat Matthysse, but if the opportunity presents itself, he will grab it. Ajose and Matthyse will face each other at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas this weekend.
