 Beatrice Black Atarisure a wide variety of fabrics to play with in her Spring/Summer 2014 collection which she showcased on day 2 of GTBank Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2013.
With hues ranging from mellow yellow to sophisticated grey to a select few print numbers, the collection comprised of smart casual day dresses to more evening-appropriate long gowns, all in chiffon fabrics, crepe and lace.

At his tenth anniversary showcase for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa 2013, David presented his collection in collaboration with Vlisco at a Rovos Rail train station.
The show began with a beautiful ballet presentation by Joburg Ballet, also modelling Vlisco designs. Then came the spectacular show featuring a host of stunning menswear and womens wear in print followed by a range of hot pink gowns.
While the print pieces were absolutely delectable, we were not particularly keen on the sheer number of pink gowns on display.

I am inspired by your recently recordings “I GO WHOOZ” & the new one “MORINGA”.  You’re not my favorite though, but I like your person but has problem with your personality in the face of the public. Discussing with my friends that I have had close relationship or that have really come close to you. I felt bad hearing their views on your personality and your words. It’s sad to hear how humble and nice they said you are but believe me people don’t see you that way.

I don’t know how or where to start from but it’s no doubt that the only controversial Nigerian music star Eedris Abdulkareem, is on comeback spotlight radar with his recent singles.  It has never happened in the history of the Nigerian Music Industry, that an artiste made a comeback after years of silence. Eedris Abdulkareem has always being a self acclaimed last man standing. Looking back at his past troubles and controversies excluding his glorious years plus the dramatic scenario his song “Nigeria Jaga Jaga” caused him. His issue with 50 cent, Nigerian Brewery and the presidency banned on him then.

I have nothing against him but just piece words of advice to you Mr. Abdulkareem.  1st I must confessed I love your never say die spirit. But my major problem with you was your past PR and the way you present yourself.  In all honesty you deserve our applause because all the trouble you had came fighting either for your right or for others. The only ‘But’ has always been your later approach and attitude toward certain things and final conclusion.

Toolz Shares Thoughts: Golden Legacies

My cousin recently lost a good friend and was going through a very rough time. One minute she was tearful, and the next minute she was laughing when she thought about the funny memories she had created with her friend. One thing was certain; the young lady that passed away had definitely made a massively positive impact on my cousin’s life.
A few days before the funeral, as my cousin was preparing to say the final goodbye, I went to see her and asked her to tell me about her friend; partly because I thought it would help her to remember the great times they shared and also because I was very curious about this seemingly incredible person.
My cousin said this of her friend: ‘She was amazing, down to earth, energetic and full of life. She could give all she had to make the next person happy. She would succeed in whatever she did and pull you along. She sounds too good to be true, but she was all this and much more’.
Wow! I remember thinking that I missed out on knowing this special person. I couldn't help but think about what my friends/ people that know me would (truthfully) say about me when I’m gone? Would I get the basic, she was nice, fun to be with etc or would I get a heartfelt appraisal like my cousin gave her friend?
We've all asked ourselves that morbid question: ‘Will people miss me when I’m gone?’, but do you ever wonder exactly WHAT people would miss about you? If you were to ask the people that know you best that question, what do you honestly think they would say about you, and most importantly, would you be happy with their answers?
Truth be told, I’m still trying to find my own answers to that question.
Maya Angelou famously said: ‘I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel’. Talking to my cousin about the loss of her friend has illustrated this perfectly. We leave an everlasting impact, negative or positive by how we treat people, and what we generally put out in the world. My cousin may forget a few things her friend said or did, but she will never EVER forget how her friend made her feel.
One of my biggest goals is to leave a massively positive impact in the hearts of people that know me and also in the industry I’m working in. My cousin losing her friend gave me a huge reality check and I realise I will have to do much better if I want to achieve this.
This is a bit of a dark topic, and a lot of people don’t want to think about death, but sadly it is inevitable. The bigger question I suppose is what legacy will you leave behind? Are you leaving people with positive impacts by how you treat them?
And just because I’m a sucker for quotes, I’ll leave you with this one:

Stella Oduah has finally spoken up-The truth behind aviation ministry’s car purchase

Following the outrage that sprung up in the country after news of her N225M bullet proof car purchase was revealed, the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah has finally spoken up.
The embattled minister, who is facing probes and possibly even redeployment, after the saga has reportedly written to President Goodluck Jonathan in a letter here contained.
According to reports, Ms. Oduah was asked by the President to explain herself and her actions and this is what she had to say.
Vanguard reports:
In Ms. Oduah’s response, which Vanguard obtained exclusively, the minister said procurement of the cars followed due process and was provided for in the NCAA 2013 budget.
“The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, is the statutory regulator of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Industry.
Consequently, the NCAA is charged with oversight responsibilities over all civil aviation operations in the country, including safety, security and strict compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices, SARPs, and Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, NCARs.
2. Towards the effective implementation of its statutory regulatory responsibilities, therefore, it is imperative that the NCAA is fully equipped with highly specialised tools and facilities, including adequate operational vehicles to cover all 22 national airports and over 400 airstrips. In keeping with standard practice, provision is therefore made annually for the replacement of obsolete, inadequate and unreliable monitoring equipment.
3. In the 2013 budgetary appropriation, provision was made for the procurement of specialised equipment (including operational vehicles) to complement and in some cases replace obsolete ones.
Furthermore, the fact that NCAA, as the regulator of the industry, often plays host to dignitaries from ICAO, IATA, US FAA, AFRAA, AFCAC BAGASO, CANSO, ACI and a host of others makes it necessary to have specialised operational vehicles.
4.With regard to the procurement of additional operational vehicles (including BMW Security Vehicles), the following due process was observed:
(I) By letter dated April 15, 2013, NCAA officially requested authorisation from the Federal Ministry of Aviation to procure 56 operational vehicles through lease financing. This option was proposed to the ministry to enable the NCAA make 36 monthly payments based on receipts from Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.
The Ministry therefore granted due approval.
(ii)Based on the ministry’s approval, the NCAA invited Expressions of Interest from all Banks in Nigeria for the financing of the said vehicles. EOI was adopted because the procurement is two sided. First, the financier would have to be selected before the supplier is determined. This is in line with procurement best practices.
(iii) On May 24, 2013, the response received from the various banks to the Expression of Interest, EOI, request was opened publicly and minutes of the opening exercise was duly documented. During the EOI opening exercise, NCAA got commendation from one of the Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, approved by BPP who were invited for the opening exercise.
(iv) The evaluation of the expression of interests was held on May 31, 2013 during which First Bank Plc, Union Bank Plc and Stanbic IBTC emerged most responsive. On the June 10, 2013 the above three banks were invited to submit Financial Proposals. Thereafter, First Bank emerged the highest rated responsive bidder.
(v)Between June 20 and 25, 2013, invoices were received from various accredited motor vehicle dealers during which only Coscharis Motors Limited quoted for BMW Security Vehicles.
Tenders Board
(vi) On June 28, 2013, NCAA Parastatal Tenders Board approved the selection of First Bank Ltd for the Lease Financing as well as Metropolitan Motor Vehicles and Coscharis for the supply of the vehicles. All necessary approvals were duly sought and obtained accordingly.
(vii) Between July 8, 2013 to August, 12, 2013 various meetings were held with First Bank Ltd, contract agreement was signed and necessary documentation executed.
Your Excellency is respectfully invited to note:
(i) The crucial statutory role of the NCAA in regulating civil aviation operations in the country, including safety, security and strict compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs).
(ii) The need for NCAA to be fully equipped with highly specialized tools and facilities (including operational vehicles) to enable the effective implementation of its statutory functions.
(iii) The procurement of specialized operational vehicles is duly provided for in the NCAA 2p 13 (IGR) Budget and the need for adopting instalmental lease payments over36rionths.
(iii) That Due Process was followed in the procurement of the said operational vehicles.
