Maine Woman Gives Birth to Own Grandson

What's the nicest thing mom has ever given you? Chances are it won't top Linda Sirois's gift to her daughter Angel Hebert: a healthy baby boy. The Portland Herald Press reports that the Maine grandmother, 49, acted as a surrogate for Hebert and her husband Brian and delivered their son Madden by C-Sectionon August 17.

The arrangement sounds a little strange, but Hebert, 25, has a heart condition that made it too dangerous for her to get pregnant. Her cardiologist said it would be risky for both her and her baby. "It was pretty disappointing," she says. She and her husband are high school sweethearts who started dating eleven years ago.

Previously mom had told Hebert she was willing to carry a baby for her. Now it was time to see if she really meant it. "I called her last summer," Hebert told the Herald Press. "And I'm like, 'So, you know that offer...Is that offer still on the table?'"

Sirois reached out to fertility clinics around New England. Many rejected her because of her age, but the Reproductive Science Center in Lexington, Massachusetts agreed to impregnate her by in-vitro fertilization (IVF) using Hebert's egg fertilized with Brian's sperm. She had to undergo a number of tests and the process was complicated, but on December 13, Sirois learned she was pregnant. The mom of four says it was her easiest pregnancy. "I felt good and had no complications."

"She is amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better mother. It's such a great and selfless gift she has given us," Hebert told the newsletter of the Aroostock Medical Center where Madden was born. "She brought her grandson into the world and we now have our beautiful baby boy. We are all super excited."

Sirois says it was the natural thing for any mother to do for her daughter. "I was just 'babysitting' for a short time… I was fortunate and blessed to be a part of this experience and be able to help bring him into the world." She will have plenty more babysitting ahead: in June, her oldest daughter, Kristin Duval, 26, gave birth to Sirois's first grandson, Everett. Babies and moms are all doing fine.

The prosecutor said the development infuriated the accused and he resorted to beating up his mother, an offence which contravened the provisions of section 265 of the Penal Code. He said that during police investigations, the complainant pleaded with the police to assist her enforce the relocation of the accused to his father’s residence at Suleja in Niger. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Counsel to the accused, Mr Okwudili Nwator, asked for Eke’s bail based on the provisions of section 340(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code and section 36 (5) of the 1999 Constitution.
Senior Magistrate, Aliu Shafa, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.The magistrate adjourned the case to Sept. 4 for further hearing ....source : AFP

New Anti-Obama Film Premiers As Highest Grossing Doc Of 2012

Let the slander ensue. 2016: Obama’s America didn’t come up short this weekend.

The new conservative film that depicts Obama as defending his Father’s dreams of revenge debuted at Number 4 in the box offices this past Friday.

It’s not clear where Obama’s America, distributed by Rocky Mountain Pictures, will end up for the weekend, although most box office observers believe it will end up in the $6 million range. On Friday, the documentary upped its theater count from 169 to 1,090, just as Republicans began heading for Tampa, Fla., where the Republican National Convention begins on Monday.

Obama’s America did well in a number of large cities where it opened Friday, including Denver, Phoenix and San Diego. Smaller markets also turned in steller numbers, including Baton Rouge, La., Wichita, Ks., Grand Junction, Co., and Albany, NY.

Posing as a fairly measured and informative recap of Obama’s personal history, the film is trying to get us to sway our decision come November.

Woman Rips Off Deputy Minister’s Clothes

A Middle-aged woman on Sunday attacked Deputy Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs, Hajia Hawawu Boya Gariba and ripped off her clothes in Tamale.

The woman whose name was only given as Kande, a banku seller, pounced on Madam Boya Gariba while she was fixing her hair in a salon. The reasons for Kande’s actions were not immediately known. The case has been reported to the police.

The Deputy Minister told Joy FM that Kande did not only rip off her clothes but also attacked her pregnant hairstylist. According to the Deputy Minister, she did not have any security detail and was thus rendered vulnerable to the attack. She added that she was rescued by one of her ‘boys.’

She said the incident caught the attention of a group of boys who for some inexplicable reasons, started hurling stones and other missiles at her.

Texas Teens Arrested For Breaking In To Mall To Steal Air Jordan Sneakers

Two teenagers were arrested this week after cutting into the roof of a mall in Houston to steal Nike Air Jordan sneakers.

A security guard at Greenspoint mall, on the north side of Houston, saw the thieves in the Foot Action store early Wednesday morning and called police. John Grant, 19, and another male, 16, were arrested at the scene, but a third suspect believed to be around the same age fled.

“We believe we know the identity of the third male who fled on foot and is still wanted,” Cannon said.

Grant has a court date of Aug. 29 at a state district court and is currently in custody with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Police and the prosecutor’s office will not release any details about the 16-year-old because he is a minor.

Grant, who does not have an attorney according to court records, could not be reached for comment.

John Cannon, Houston Police spokesman, said officers responded to a burglary call at 4:45 A.M. on Wednesday and found the suspects stole 16 pairs of Nike Air Jordan sneakers valued at $175 each.

Limited editions of specific Nike sneakers, such as the soon-to-be-released LeBron X Nike Plus basketball sneaker, are often bought and re-sold for costs as high as $1,000.

Violence and long lines have plagued stores like Foot Locker as fans wait hours for a limited number of sneakers.
