The Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has sued the
Independent Communications Network Limited, publishers of PM News for
the sum of N1 billion.
This was disclosed in a release issued by Festus Adedayo, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media.
The evening newspaper had on Tuesday published a piece entitled ‘Anxiety over Florence Ajimobi’s alleged arrest in UK’
, wherein it published a story purportedly written by an online agency
named Newsleak, which alleged that the wife of the governor had been
arrested in London for money laundering.
According to the release, the government of Oyo State had the
responsibility to ensure that the media does not become an instrument in
the hands of blackmailers for such acts.
“We want to state unequivocally that this report is not only wicked,
it is the figment of the imagination of the writers. Mrs. Ajimobi was
never arrested for any offence whatsoever. Even though our
investigations have shown that this is the work of some arrowheads of
the opposition, it was done in such an amateurish way that beats the
imagination of any responsible reader,” the release said.
The government said that though it had a lot of respect for the
media, there was the need to drag the runners of these media to court to
explain the details of their reports to the rest of the world.
The government decried what it called dirty politicking by the
opposition in the state who use the media for the propagation of their
falsehood, stating that the courts would be able to compel those behind
this wicked lie to provide details of the veracity or otherwise of their
claims on the governor’s wife.

“Marijuana is medicinal, but cigarettes kill” – Seun Kuti
Seun, one of the more popular sons of the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti,
has insisted in a recent interview, that marijuana is better than
cigarettes. Seun, who leads his father’s band now, argued that
cigarettes were favoured over marijuana, popularly called ‘igbo’,
because it was making profits for the white man.
He has released a new song, which promotes his point of view.
“This song is about the good leaf; ewe rere. Me I nor dey say make Government legalize Igbo o. If Government like, them legalize am. If Government like, them nor legalize am. I’m smoking it mehn!” he said. “Our politicians nor get sense. Because the white man talk say Igbo nor good, them follow dem talk say Igbho nor good. But now, in the United States of America, dem dey smoke Igbo legally”.
Seun also went ahead to claim that if marijuana was legalised, it would make black men richer and that is why politicians are blocking it.
“Igbo doesn’t kill, but cigarette dey kill. Because cigar na white man’s business, as far as you write ‘Smokers are liable to die young’, it becomes legal.
“Why not also put Igbo in a box and write Igbo smokers are liable to go crazy young?” he asked.
“Marijuana is medical, and I feel Cigarette is selling legally because it is white man’s business. It is killing millions of people everyday.. Igbo is not killing anybody.
“Marijuana is not only for smoking. It’s used for a lot of things; you can make clothes, you can drink tea, it is good, it is medicinal, it helps your appetite, they give it to cancer patients.. a lot of benefits,” he explained.

Don Jazzy signs two new producers to Mavin Records
Don Jazzy has confirmed the signings of two new producers to Mavin
Records. Aluko “Altims” Timothy and Sunday “BabyFresh” Enejere, are the
latest additions that will “help their project”.
“We older ones are not getting younger. It is a relief to have some
young legs and minds to help our project. BabyFresh and Altims are fully
activated and I promise there will be many new names for activation
soon,” Don Jazzy said, as he welcomed them into the fold.
The two producers are not new to the Mavin family, as they have already worked with two of the artistes on the label, Wande Coal and D’Prince.
