comedian/actress Mo'Nique has taken her weight issue very seriously

In health & fitness news, since the cancellation of her talk show, comedian/actress Mo'Nique has taken her weight issue very seriously, and it's commendable that she has stayed focused and dedicated throughout the entire year.

She trains daily to build balance and stamina so that she can stand in pumps (sounds like a workout plan I need to be on) for long periods during her stage shows, and run after her youngins.

Three schools get free libraries, computers in Lagos

Three secondary schools in Lagos – Isolo Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikota Primary School and Ikosi Senior Secondary School, Ketu, have benefited from the first phase of the Western Union Foundation and Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation project in the state.
The project, tagged ‘Read to Succeed,’ is targeted at complementing the efforts being made by the country to meet global educational standards.
The three schools had each of their libraries refurbished and equipped with variety of books, furniture and computer sets.
Western Union’s Regional Vice President for North-Central and West Africa, Aida Diarra, said the project was to show the company and its agent’s willingness to support development and educational initiatives in Nigeria.
Also, in her address during the inauguration of the libraries, the Programme Manager, DOAM Foundation, Mrs. Clare Henshaw, said over $57,902 (about N9m) was designated for the first phase of the project.
She noted that thousands of books, 17 computer sets and printers were donated for use in the libraries of the benefiting schools.
She said, “Developing reading habit and culture will improve the nation’s human resources, thus supporting the leaders of tomorrow. This project is a demonstration of how DOAM Foundation is dedicated to the enhancement of education in the lives of less privileged children.”
Commending the groups for their kind gesture, the Principal, Isolo Comprehensive Senior High School, Mrs. Modupe Adegbulugbe, said their efforts have provided a source of information and inspiration for young minds.
He noted that pupils from neighboring schools would be allowed access to the facility to improve the reading culture in the area.
“The library is beautiful and special. It is filled with books and computers, with internet facility. It is an e-library and the first of its kind in this environment. These collections are balanced and comprise relevant and quality materials,” she said.

A few highlights her interview is below: For more deets on Nicole’s interview, please visit  Marie Claire UK!
On her relationship with Chris Brown: “I’ve known Chris since he started in the business. He’s like a little brother [to me]. He’s one of the most talented people in the industry.”
On her Formula 1 beau Lewis Hamilton: ”Lewis and I are a team and we’re really there for each other, and the time we spend together I do cherish, it’s separate from everything else. I know there are a lot of relationships who, you know… take Kanye West and Kim Kardashian – well, they’re perfect for the cameras. Lewis and I are a bit more subdued.”
On waiting to have children: “I’m not having someone else raise my kids. I think five years might be a good time to look at having children, but I think whenever it’s meant to happen is when it will happen. Right now, I’m focussing on my career. I see lots of women having beautiful children later in life now. And, if not, just freeze your eggs.”
On why she’s afraid to lose her fortune: “We couldn’t afford the luxury of getting a year book or school photos or anything like that. Mum got all my clothes from second-hand stores and garage sales. And to think of losing it scares me because I grew up with nothing.”

JENNIFER LAWRENCE COVERS MARIE CLAIRE SOUTH AFRICA

‘Hunger Games’ star Jennifer Lawrence covers the first of the year, January 2013 issue of Marie Claire South Magazine.
This is what she told the mag.
On her New Years Resolution:
“My New Year’s Resolution is to stand up for myself. It’s hard for me. Nobody wants to be disliked. You always want to be polite and be nice. I tried to find a balance in saying what I mean and still being nice. I can’t do it. I have this ‘okay’ attitude and everything. I end up allowing myself to get walked over and resenting it.”
On being a celebrity:
“Celebrity is such a simple predictable thing, I’m not in awe of it. It makes completes sense. You have a job where people recognize you and they think you are not human.”
On her personal life:
“I don’t like going out that much. I’m kind of an old lady. After it’s 11, I’m like ‘Don’t these kids ever get tired?’ When I’m out, I think about my couch.”
On her body image:
“I’d rather look chubby on screen and like a person in real life.”
