Fashion is one huge contributor of economic growth for any country and/or region if the right things and structures are in place. Take for example,
Milan, regarded as the current fashion capital of the world has major fashion houses labels such as Versace, Gucci, Armani, Valentino, Prada, Moschino and Missoni headquartered in the city. This greatly contribute to its economy. The United States of America enjoys about 25% of its GDP through fashion alone! Arguably, China, the world's biggest fashion land mine "is a rapidly growing consumer market and more companies are looking for ways to develop marketing, branding and communication that is relevant to Chinese consumers." From the foregoing, Africa, particularly the West African region could enjoy attendant benefits of fashion given the raw talent and creativity available, moreso the continent is overly blessed with mineral and human resources. Again, with the right structures in place, West Africa and extension could be a fashion "land mine" just like China.

Being the maiden edition, the organisers of ECOWAS FASHION WEEK will seek to cash in on the growing African fashion market, especially the West African region. ECOWAS-governed region is comprised of fifteen (15) countries, namely: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo. The objectives of the upcoming fashion week will be to:

INTERVIEW: Meet The Most Creative Designer at Winasbet NSFDW 2014
Winasbet NSFDW which is now rated by Google as the Biggest Fashion
Week in Africa for fashion students had over 40 emerging designers who
showcased their various new collections. Vovwe Omoko a fresh graduate
from OSC College of Fashion emerged as the most creative designer of
the Fashion Week.
Can we meet you?
Vovwe: I am vovwe omoko. The creative director of ovemsfashion. A graduate
of fine and applied arts delta state university. I recently also
graduated from the Osc College of Fashion.
How old are you?
Vovwe: I clocked 25 June 1st
Where are you from?
Vovwe: I am from otowodo in ughelli north local government area. Delta state.
At what stage would you say your interest in fashion began to manifest?
Vovwe: The truth is I have always been interested in fashion even as a
teenager. It only became more manifest or evident during my nysc.
After which I quit my job as s radio presenter to pursue this dream
What informed your participation at the Winasbet NSFDW?
Vovwe: I got a mail, inviting me to participate at this year's edition
of Winasbet NSFDW. I
called my school principal Mrs sola babatunde. She advised me to run
with it. So I did.
