Team Nigeria’s basketball team D’Tigers didn’t just win their first match at 2012 London Game Olympics but also made history as the first Nigerian basketball team to win a match at the on-going games.
D’Tigers beat their Tunisian counterparts also the African Champion in 60-56 in a very competitive game played at the Olympic stadium. Now Nigeria need only one more game to win for them to scale through to the next round.
Before the game, Sani Ahmed, coach of the team, said even though the Tunisians beat Nigeria on their way to winning the Afrobasket and picking the sole African slot in Madagascar, ‘today’s encounter will be different’ as the boys want to make history and prove that their qualification was no fluke.
