Citi FM’s chairman wins international award

The Chairman and lead shareholder of Citi FM, Nick Amarteifio has been awarded the Africa American Institute (AAI) 2012 Distinguished Alumnus Award.Nick Amarteifio was awarded on Wednesday at the AAI’s 28th annual awards dinner gala held in New York, USA.
The awards celebrates key individuals who have championed and created jobs for Africa’s future as well as made major contributions to private sector development and women’s entrepreneurship and economic empowerment in Africa.Liberia and Malawi’s Presidents were also honored at the awards.
President of Malawi, Joyce Banda was awarded the AAI Award for championing women’s rights and business leadership while Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia received the AAI African National Achievement Award for literacy to support life skills.
Nick Amarteifio’s award only comes two weeks after Citi FM’s News and Current Affairs program Eyewitness News was adjudged Best Radio Programme of the Year for 2011 by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana.Citi FM during the same period was also adjudged the most innovative African newsroom in the use of digital media including online, social and mobile media in its news programs at the 16th Telkom Highway Africa Awards 2012.
One of the station’s journalists; Umaru Sanda Amadu this week also received an international award for promoting peace on the African continent. He was awarded the 1st Prize in the Jury’s Special Award for the 2012 Radio for Peace building Africa (RFPA) Competition..
