Popular actress Yvonne Okoro has cautioned the general public to be weary of some faceless individuals using social network Facebook to fraudulently raise funds supposedly on her behalf.
Yvonne has distanced herself from the activity saying she has neither employed anybody to raise funds on her behalf nor is she raising any funds on Facebook herself.
“It has come to my notice that somebody is using an account in my name to raise funds.
I wish to inform the public that I'm not raising any such funds or I'm behind such persons in that regard.
If you are cajoled into giving them money, you are doing that at your own risk.
Otherwise you can assist bring such persons book,” Yvonne said on Thursday.
The beautiful actress’ impersonation comments came on the heels of her recent interview with Komla Dumor on British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Focus on Africa (TV) and BBC World service’s flagship breakfast news and current affairs programme, the world’s biggest radio breakfast show, Newsday.
She has currently been added to the league of celebrated African celebrities who are impersonated on social networks.
Even though she is personally on Facebook, there are different other Facebook accounts created in her name. She is not behind it and asked her fans to be careful.
Yvonne was in the news this week over her award winning produced movie directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso.
It was released on DVD and VCD on Monday July 1, and is expected to be on the shelves at every movie sale point.
