Three crushed to death after container falls off truck in Lagos


Tragedy occurred on Wednesday when a truck with registration number XT 339 AKD carrying a 40 foot container slipped and collapsed on a mazda car with registration number UK 641 KJA killing three out of the four occupants of the car on the Badagry-Seme Expressway, around 1.15pm.
DailyPost gathered that passers-by swung into action almost immediately the accident occurred to rescued the trapped persons, before officials of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, came to the scene of the accident.
The source said that the truck which was conveying some goods lost control and fell on the Mazda car, killing three of the occupants instantly and leaving the fourth person in a critical condition.
He added that the truck driver fled immediately to avoid being lynched.
DailyPost also gathered that a bad portion of the road that has been left undone for a long time might have caused the accident.
Eyewitness said, “For the fact that the road is no longer manageable, road users often drive against traffic to avoid container carrying trucks; now it has claimed lives.”
He complained about the bad expressway describing it as a death zone.
He said, “This is an indication that we are all driving on a time bomb. It could be either of us tomorrow”
