Recently, SWAHILI FASHION WEEK 2012 held to the admiration of fashion buyers, enthusiasts, trendspotters and the media. According to Diana Opoti, Kenyan-based contributor for  Zen Magazine, this year’s event attracted over twenty (20) designers from six (6) countries. The trend spotted on the runway was: “Nudity and conservative collections clashed on the runway during this years showcase revealing a new set of  emerging designers to watch in the coming year.” Designers: An Anisa, Aobakwe Molosiwa, Jamila Vera Swai, Eskado Bird (by Doreen Estazia), Ann Sophie Achera, Martha Jabo to name a few, showcased really aesthectic pieces ranging from maxi pencil skirts to midi skirts, midriff-baring tops, mini cocktail dresses, “tasteful touches of African prints in Kitenge” and Islamic hijab amongst others.
