TiannahStyling Coordinates as Mariam Afolabi Presents Mademoiselle Aglaia Live in Lagos

Mariam Afolabi is a law student at Warwick University and also the CEO/Creative Director of the renowned and upcoming fashion label, Mademoiselle Aglaia. Born in May 1993, she is a young career oriented lady. As you may wonder how she moved from law into fashion. Mariam fell in love with creating designs when she studied art in high school. There she learnt the concept of imaginative art and abstract art.

Mademoiselle Aglaia has showcased at various shows such as ; Echo and X&O’s for teenagers to African Fashion Week London where Toyin Lawani CEO of TiannahStyling and Creative Director of Elegante by TiannahStyling helped in creating and bringing her designs to life, an off-schedule show for London Fashion Week and even the last Sisi-Oge Beauty Pageant in Lagos. She has also showcased her designs at various universities like: UCL, Imperial, Southampton, Nottingham, Toronto and Warwick.

Her new collection is called Acanthus and Renaissance art. “My designs have been inspired by the ceiling of famous palaces like the palace de Versailles and paintings from artist like Leonardo da Vinci and others during the renaissance period. The Acanthus plant has also inspired the embroidery style in the dresses I have designed to give it that baroque element. Designers like Chanel, Givenchy and Balmain have also inspired the style and technique i have adopted in my collection. These designers use beads, embroidery and prints to express their style, most of the techniques and styles in my collection will portray this” She explains.

She welcomes us to her jungle on the 29th of December at the Oriental Hotel Lagos where she’ll be showcasing in Nigeria for the first time. There is no doubt that Mademoiselle Aglaia has the potential to become one of the top designers across the globe.

Artistes performing at the event are D’Prince, Wande Coal, Dammy Krane, @ADDICTIONDuo, 2Sec, ttwins & lax. This event is strictly by invitation.
