D’banj: Dapo Oyebanjo, Biography, Musicm, Awards & Life Style


Dapo Oyebanjo born and named as Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo and popularly know as ‘D’banj’ is a Nigerian Celebrity with lots of accolade to his name.  He is a harmonica player and a good singer-songwriter with lots of award winnings songs such as‘No Long Thing’‘Oliver Twist’, D’banj’s debut album in 2005.

Enrolled at Nigerian Military School at age eleven;
Secondary School: Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria;
University: Mechanical Engineering from UNILAG (Lagos State University).
D’Banj Music career:
2005 – D’banj debut album titled ‘No Long Thing’ was released. This album yielded several singles, with Tongolo as the lead single. This proved to be his breakthrough single and a hit for him. It also provided his Koko Master persona, with the term, koko, taking on a variety of meanings. D’banj’s debut success led him to collaborate with other artists such as Dare Art-Alade.
2006 – D’banj’s second album, ‘Rundown Funk U Up’, which was released in 2006, yielded several singles including the club single, Tongolo (Remix) and the lead single, Why Me?. This proved to be another great hit in  D’banj’s career.

Achievements:
D’banj is a founder of Koko Foundation for Youth and Peace Development. He is also Nigeria’s first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace.
In 2012, Dapo ‘D’banj’ Oyebanjo split from the Mo Hits Record crew and  joined the G.O.O.D Music family under Kanye West and was signed to Mercury Records, an imprint in the UK under the Mercury Records Group of Universal Music UK.
