News reaching us some moments ago has it that Lagos State Government has given its full nod to ECOWAS Fashion Week 2014. The much-buzzed event will be taking place at Landmark Events Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. In our recent PRESS RELEASE on ECOWAS Fashion Week, we mentioned the Objectives of the epoch-making event will include helping to:
•revive the African culture through fashion;
•promote the dignity of womanhood;
•open new windows of business opportunities;
•encourage indigenous fashion designers;
•redefine fashion shows by showcasing other fashion accessories; and to
•encourage the exportation of local designs in the region.
It therefore follows that having this event in a commercially-driven State like Lagos (with the imprimatur of the Government), this is just a sign of good things to come. Organizers are working tirelessly to ensure a hitch-free event.
The planned date for ECOWAS Fashion Week is 22nd to 24th August, 2014 with a World Press Conference expected anytime soon. We also have on good authority that over fifty (50) designers from the ECOWAS region (home and abroad) are expected to showcase during the three-day event. Also, models (both local and international) will be cast in fifteen ECOWAS countries for this show.
Stay tuned for more updates!
