•Bukola Smart
Bukola Smart, a 17-year-old Nigerian student based in the United Kingdom, is set to make a big impact in Nigeria’s fashion and music scene with the establishment of The Fashion and Music Entertainment, FAME 2014 concert, a creative initiative designed to encourage the continuous growth and development of the Nigerian entertainment and fashion industry.Set to debut in December 2014in Lagos, FAME is a blend of fashion and music on the runway and it is designed to showcase and encourage the abundant talent and human resources in the country’s music and fashion industry and more importantly, to discover the next generation of stars in the music and fashion business

Smart, who is studying Accounting and Finance in the University of Reading and a long term fashion enthusiast, said the objective of the project is to promote fashion and support growth in the music industry by discovering talents who can stand the test of time.
“Fashion and music are always a great blend as we have seen in many different concerts, but the difference is that FAME brings exclusivity, style and class to the business. It gives the participants not only a chance to show what they do best, but gives them the opportunity to be scouted or recruited to kick off a bright career. Therefore, FAME will serve as a platform of career opportunities and brings about the reality of dreams,” she said.
Smart disclosed that entry forms for the event have been on sale from 14 July and applications would be made in two categories  —fashion and music. Submitted applications would be thoroughly scrutinized and successful applicants short-listed for training/audition which would be the utmost pre-condition for qualification into the finals of the event.
The training and audition sessions would entail all short-listed applicants both in fashion and music categories converging daily at a designated location where instructors for training and rehearsals would engage them.
Designed in the form of a reality show, contestants in the fashion category would be judged based on originality, creativity, modelling skills, style and modernization, while those in the music category would be judged on lyrics, beat, originality, audibility, and delivery.
Ten (best five in each of the two categories) would converge at the grand finale where the winner of the star prize would be chosen.
Segun Bankole, AGM, Corporate Communications and Branding, Sovereign Trust Insurance, sponsor of the show, said the company is taking part in the event because it is in tandem with their corporate values of innovation, integrity, professionalism and team spirit. He said Bukkie Smart represents such innovative youth and they are proud to be associated with her.
