Amsterdam, September 16, 2014 - Last weekend of the 31st August, took the first edition of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam ( AFWA2014 ) place at the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam. In the presence of the Dutch Governor, the Amsterdam council & Chamber of commerce representatives, the African Embassies representatives, buyers retailers and an international press, with a fashion - loving public showed both novice and established African and African- inspired fashion designers proudly their colorful collections.

Day 2: Students & Catwalk Show - Novice designers
Saturday August 30 was completely dominated by novice designers who proudly showed their first collection of fashion-loving Netherlands and an international audience. One could enjoy colorful fashion shows: NUBIAN COLLECTION, LOVEJADEX DESIGN, HABESHA COUTURE and MONICA CREATION .
Day 3: Gala Show - Established designers
On Sunday, August 31 hosted by our celebrity Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah and Owner of Passarella Moda Carolien Ter Linden. It was the turn of the established designers to present their collection, including the Founder of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam, Miss Diana Tambe, who kicked-off the Gala Show with her own clothing line BLACKPEARL SECRET, followed by THE HOUSE OF ADJEIWAAH ( Thoa ), ARRIZ GOLDEN, ALISHA, FARIDA's ATELIER and the closing by PATOU MANGA.

There were a number of brilliant speakers who spoke about the philosophy of the African Fashion.
Music & Dance
Besides the colorful and inspiring fashion shows of the first edition of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam, the public could also enjoy musical performances by MISS BESS, dance and urban music sensation PETIT Bagaza and NABIL NABSTAR .
Amsterdam is clearly not just a multicultural event richer but also a unique Fashion Week!
The organization of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam looks back with pride on a successful first edition and prepares for spring/summer AFWA2015.
